Welcome to Bedford Women's Centre Website

Bedford Womens Centre is based in the Raleigh Centre which is in the Cauldwell ward of Bedford on Ampthill Road. Our aim is to support women in the community to improve the quality of life for them and their families. We offer one to one support and mentoring, weekly workshops, training courses (both accredited and non-accredited) and support groups for women to promote healthy relationships and eradicate Domestic Abuse. The centre is run by Family Groups Bedford, which is a registered charity who have provided services to the local community since 1982.

Domestic Abuse Support Coordinator

Maternity cover January 2022- October 2022

18-20 hours per week (Mon – Fri)

£21,166 to £23,836 pro rata

We are looking for an organised person with a family support or Domestic abuse service background.  You would support our existing team with delivering and coordinating our Freedom programme, provide support to service users who are experiencing statutory support or interventions. You would manage the reporting and feedback with the Chief Officer. A non-judgemental attitude and good knowledge of women’s issues, trauma and Domestic Abuse is essential.

Weekly Workshops

We deliver workshops each week on a Monday and Thursday, term time, with a crèche for children under 5 years old. Women can relax and make friends while taking part in activities such as Sewing, Cooking Arts and Crafts etc

First Aid

We train Emergency First Aid At Work (6 hours), Paediatric First Aid (12 hours) and First Aid Awareness For Parents (2.5 hours). Courses can be delivered at a suitable location of your choice or on our site

Freedom Program

Bedford Women’s Centre deliver two weekly Freedom groups in a safe and confidential environment for women who may have experienced Domestic Abuse or want more information about healthy relationships.

Training Courses

We hold a number of training courses throughout the year to support you to gain valuable Skills for Life or improve your employment prospects. Giving you the confidence to find the right job or further education of your choice.

Creche Provision

We have an on-site crèche at our centre. Our qualified crèche team are dedicated to ensure that both parents/carers and the children have a positive experience and any additional support they may need.
